The premise is simple: a musician takes apart one of their songs to show us how it works. As they extract the separate instruments and melodies and lyrics, describing how they arrived at each, we hear the song stripped down to its elements. Then it gets put back together and we hear it in its finished form. It's like reverse magic, hearing something beautiful come apart and then fly together again, in less than 15 mins. Our fear was that you'd have to be a musician, or at least a music snob, to understand it, but it's totally accessible, with featured songs running the gamut from U2 and Ghostface Killah to the theme from Bob's Burgers. A slickly-produced pleasure.
