Judge John Hodgman
Many of you will be familiar with the judge, who is yet to live down his scene-stealing turn as PC in the "Get a Mac" commercials, and whose podcast has been a hit for some years now. In it, he adjudicates on interpersonal disputes too delicate and complex even for the small claims court: Should a husband answer his phone more reliably to his wife? Is a household's no-shoe policy too strict? Is it OK to take Christmas trees from the cemetery? We recently returned to a classic episode, which goes down as one of the greatest in the program's history: a woman who owns a veritable horde of Shetland ponies believes they are all sweet-natured, but her neighbour disagrees. Hodgman brings every power of his dry, needling wit to bear in exploring a premise that seems too ridiculous to be true, but somehow, gloriously, is.
