Good Muslim, Bad Muslim
Taz Ahmed and Zahra Noorbakhsh are activists, writers, comedians. Zahra eats pork, drinks alcohol, is married to a white guy; Taz dates and writes about it. For the non-religious, these traits make them 'good Muslims' - they are relatable, assimilated, socially liberal. But in the eyes of the wider Muslim community, they are 'bad Muslims', engaging in explicitly forbidden behaviour. In this funny and defiant podcast, they interrogate and celebrate the middle ground on which they stand, sharing stories from their lives and covering issues of social justice. Tongue-in-cheek segments make pointed fun of Islamophobic obsessions - they issue fatwas on e.g. hot people; they ironically cheer on reports of 'Sharia creep' - and their energetic conversation roams across news, politics and pop culture.
