Jon Ronson's Escape and Control
You probably know Jon Ronson. He's a quietly-spoken British writer, intensely interested in the way the internet hurts and helps us. In this 2011-12 series of video podcasts - some might call them vodcasts, but we won't, and you can't make us - he investigates people who are trying, usually in vain, to control the internet, including a dubious record producer, Israeli satirists, and a trio of academics who have repurposed Jon's name for a parody Twitter account (an incident that ends in a painfully smarmy denouement that inspired his latest book, So You've Been Publicly Shamed). Ronson is the best possible companion through the looking glass - unfailingly honest, relentlessly curious, dryly funny. There are 14 short (less than 10 min) episodes here, and we think they're best heard, or seen, in order.
