A History of the World in 100 Objects
This joint project of the British Museum and BBC Radio 4 was broadcast in 2010. In each 14-min episode, museum director Neil MacGregor profiles one of 100 curated objects - a Chinese scroll, an Indian chess piece, a Mexican map, a bark shield - hand-picked from the museum collections to represent humanity's last two million years. MacGregor explains and theorises on each object's origins, and the part it played in the larger sweep of human history. Choose at random from the objects that speak to you, or enjoy the Story of Us in broadcast order, over 23 absorbing hours.
