Mouth Time

Mouth Time

The surreal lady universe of Reductress delights us on the regular, with such headlines as 6 Floral Patterned Sundresses That Will Hypnotise Him Into Loving You and These New Nut Cheeses Won't Erase What Krista Did. The tone is perfectly captured in this very funny show starring pretend Reductress editors Quenn and Div (aka actual comedians Nicole Silverberg and Anna Drezen): "just two girls who share what our heads are thinking by moving our mouths". Each 45-minute episode is packed with unnecessary abbreviations, inaccurate pop cultural references, and segues into the bizarre, with segments including Awkie Toppies, What Would Our Babies Look Like and Girl Peeves. They also interview the funny and famous; guests improvise gamely, sometimes appearing as themselves and sometimes playing parts (Katie Hartman's appearance as the director of an all-ages cotillion is a highlight). Mouth Time skewers the cynicism of a certain kind of 'women's interest' media, while at the same time paying loving tribute to the basic bitches (so to speak) these outlets seek to serve. A joy.
